For October 9th

In this week’s Big God Story-God is Mighty (Moses)
God’s people had been in the land of Egypt for many years. As the number of Hebrew people began to grow, the more threatened the pharaoh became. In an effort to gain control, the king of Egypt enslaved the people of God. The people cried out to God for rescue. He heard the cries of His people and sent Moses to lead the people out of Egypt. When the people reached the Red Sea, there was no place to go. The pharaoh had changed his mind and sent his army to retrieve the Hebrew people. But our God is mighty and sent a great wind to part the Red Sea. The people were able to cross safely through on the dry bed of the Red Sea.

Blessing: Children, God is mighty. He is bigger and stronger than anyone or anything. May you always praise and thank Him for who He is.

ILLUMINATE Spiritual Formation and ILLUMINATE (K-5th grade)
The Big God Story this Sunday – God is Lord (Jacob and Esau)
We might wonder why God, the ruler of all things, would let that happen. Remember, God had told Rebekah that the older child would serve the younger one. God is Lord. Nothing surprises Him. God knew all along that Jacob would be given the blessing. God had a plan for Jacob and Esau in His story. When things like this happen in our own lives, things that don’t make sense, we can remember who God is. God is Lord, even when you’re confused, feel alone, and can’t see His plan for your life. He’s always in charge, and He controls everything.

Blessing: May you know that God is Lord over all things, including your life. May you know His presence each day.
