Kids Connection Monthly Verse for May
Since, you have then, been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Colossians 3:1
The Big God Story for May 7th & May 14th– God is Love (The Church in Antioch)
The Apostles, the chosen disciples, went out and shared with others about God’s love. The people they taught then decided to follow Jesus. A godly and faith-filled man named Barnabas heard about all the people who were choosing to follow Jesus in Antioch. He went there to see all that was happening. He got so excited that he, along with Paul, continued to teach God’s Word. When the church in Antioch heard that a famine was going to happen, they sent money to provide for their brothers in Judea. They’d felt God’s love and provision and wanted to show it to others.
Blessing: Children, God is love. May you know how much He loves you.
The Big God Story for May 21st & 28th – God listens to our Prayers (Peter freed from Prison)
Jesus’ disciples were busy telling everyone the good news. King Herod wasn’t happy to see so many people choosing to follow Jesus. So the wicked king ordered his soldiers to capture Peter and put him in prison. Heavy chains and 16 guards were used to ensure Peter wouldn’t escape. But the people of God were praying. The Lord God heard their prayers and sent an angel to free Peter from prison.
Blessing: Children, God always hears you when you pray. He is with you and can save you. May you know that God can do anything.

The Big God Story – God is Near (Walking on Water) Matthew 14:22-36; John 6:16-21
After the miracle of feeding the five thousand, Jesus sent His disciples away in a boat. They soon encountered a storm. Jesus walked out onto the water toward their boat! Peter walked on the water to meet Jesus, but the wind and huge waves made him afraid, and he began to sink. Jesus saved Peter and calmed the storm.
The disciples may not have fully believed Jesus was the Messiah before this experience. But, after they saw Jesus’ power, they believed. God never
promised to give us a problem-free life. He promises to be near to us in the middle of it all. When we have challenges and learn to trust God in the middle of our struggles, we grow in faith.
The Big God Story – Jesus Restores (Healing of the Blind Man) John 9
When Jesus encountered the sick, He healed and restored them. What does restore mean? To restore something means to fix it or return it to
its original condition. When Jesus healed the sick, He also restored their reputations and relationships with their communities.
Jesus restored the blind man’s sight and brought the man into relationship with Him. Jesus wants to restore things to how they should be—both physically and spiritually. And today, God still restores us because He loves us.
May 28th Kids Connection-Elementary 2nd Service only (Spiritual Formation will meet in the sanctuary with Pastor Mike)
The Big God Story – Jesus is Life (Lazarus) John 11
In The Big God Story, Jesus told His friend Martha, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.” (John 11:25–26). After that, when Jesus told a man named Lazarus to come out of the tomb, Lazarus got up and walked out alive!
In the Bible, Jesus says, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” (Mark 8:34). Those are
powerful words. Jesus is saying that His way is the best way because only He can bring life. When we decide to follow Jesus, we are following the One who loves us the most and wants to give us His best for each of our lives.
