The Big God Story for June 4thGod is With Me
Every quarter, we take time to pause and remember who God is and all He has done. As we remember, we celebrate Him together as a faith community.
It’s so fun to celebrate that God is with us. He is with us when we wake up in the morning. God is with us when we get dressed and brush our teeth. He is with us when we play and at night when we’re asleep. God never leaves us. We can talk to Him whenever we want, and we can be with Him always.

Blessing: Children, may you know that God is with you, always and forever.

The Big God Story for June 11th & 18 – God is Powerful (David and the Giant)
The time had come for Israel to have a new king to lead the people. God had rejected Saul as the king because Saul had rejected the ways of the Lord. So God sent the prophet Samuel to Jesse to choose the next king of Israel from his sons. Once David was anointed, God’s Spirit was upon him. When David went into battle with Goliath, God was with him. God fought for His people and was victorious; God is powerful.

Blessing: Children, may you know that God is powerful.

The Big God Story for June 25th & July 2nd – God Takes Care of Me (Elijah Fed by Ravens)
Elijah had a message for King Ahab from the Lord God. A drought was coming to the land of Israel. There would be no rain or dew for a few years. Then the Lord told Elijah to leave and hide himself. God told Elijah to drink water from the brook and to watch for ravens that would bring him food. Elijah obeyed God’s words. Everything happened just as God had said. The ravens brought him bread and meat to eat and he drank from the brook. God took care of Elijah.

Blessing: Children, may you know that God loves you and cares for you.

The Big God Story – God’s Spirit Changes Everything (Ascension and Holy Spirit) Matt. 28:16–20 & Acts 1—2
Peter, one of Jesus’ disciples, got up and preached to the crowds and told them the good news about Jesus’ death and resurrection.  Peter even explained Bible verses from the past to prove that Jesus had fulfilled what God had been promising throughout The Big God Story. The Bible says about three thousand people believed in Jesus that day! Afterward, the people worshipped God together, and the disciples performed many miracles so that more and more people heard the good news, believed in Jesus, and joined the community of believers praising God. The Holy Spirit changed everything!

For thousands of years, the people of God had waited for the time when God would pour out His Spirit on all people (Joel 2:28–29). They would know God and know how to obey God. This time had finally come! Since that day, all people who put their faith in Jesus receive the Holy Spirit to live inside them. God’s Spirit leads them, teaches them, and pours love into their hearts

The Big God Story – God’s Power Changes Everything (Healing of the Beggar) Acts 3:1-10
God’s power is just as active today as it was in the days when Peter was alive. When we believe in Jesus, God’s Spirit still comes and lives inside us. His Spirit still changes everything in our lives. We might not be able to heal people like Peter did, but God still wants to do amazing things as His power works through us.

As a child of God, the Holy Spirit can work through you in conversations, relationships, giving to others, and many other ways. God can work through you to change lives just like He worked through Peter to change the life of the beggar. When God’s Spirit lives inside us, God helps us to see how His power changes the world.

The Big God Story – God’s Son Changes Everything (Paul’s Conversion) Acts 9:1-31
After Saul heard from God, he was blind for three whole days. During that time, God spoke to a man named Ananias and told him to go where Saul was, place his hands on him, and pray that his sight would be returned. Ananias was scared, because he knew Saul had been a dangerous man, but he obeyed God anyway. And when Ananias placed his hands on Saul, “something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized”

Saul went on to play a big role in The Big God Story. He also came to be known by another name. What name do we call him today? Right! Today we know him as Paul. If God could transform this man’s heart, He can transform anyone’s heart! And as we’ll see in coming weeks, Saul—later called Paul—went on to spread the message of Jesus far and wide. He even wrote several books of the Bible! Clearly, God’s Son changes everything.
