The People She Serves

Desiring to serve the Lord with her talents and interests, Elaine’s calling to Bible translation has expanded into a desire to make God’s Word more accessible to the Deaf throughsign language Bible translations. Elaine is excited to complete Partnership Development, after which she will be released to the field. She will be on location with the Global Sign Languages Team (GSLT) in Romania for about a year, to complete their Orientation and Training Program. The goal is to discover her specific role in translation work by the end of the training, and from there determine where in the world God would have her serve. Elaine will also determine whether she will need further training or education before moving on to her more permanent assignment.

How She Got Started

Elaine was blessed to have been raised in a Christian home, and always wanted to serve God with her life. She first felt called to join the work of Bible translation in 2016, several months after participating in her first foreign missions trip, while attending a missions conference at her home church. After learning about how many hundreds of language groups still did not have even one verse of Scripture in a language they understood best, God broke her heart for the Bibleless people of the world. Since then, God has been preparing her for missions through a journey of personal and spiritual growth. It’s been a long road so far, and she’s excited to be on the verge of finally stepping onto the foreign mission field!
