Gideon & Joy Banda
Serving in Church Planting and holistic community transformation on the Kenyan Coast for over 15 years.
Renewal Project Africa (RPA) Trust
Renewal Project Africa (RPA) exists to see holistic community transformation through the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our work focuses primarily on underserved communities along the Kenyan Coast where spiritual, social, and economic challenges intersect. Begining with a church planting strategy, we then engage a long-term intentional relationship with the community to strengthen families, develop leaders, and address practical needs such as education, water access, health, and livelihood empowerment. We believe that gospel proclamation and community renewal belong together. Our aim is to see people flourishing spiritually, socially, and economically as disciples of Jesus who contribute to the renewal of their communities.

How They Got Started
Gideon and Joy Banda sensed God’s call early in their marriage to invest their lives in gospel-centered ministry and community renewal in East Africa. Over the years, this calling has developed through pastoral leadership, discipleship, and grassroots community engagement. In 2021they founded Renewal Project Africa, an initiative committed to planting churches, equipping leaders and strengthening communities through a holistic approach to mission. Gideon also serves as a Lead Pastor at Crossroads Fellowship Nyali, where discipleship, leadership development, and mission engagement are central priorities. Their work brings together theological formation, church partnership, and practical community initiatives, rooted in the conviction that the gospel of the Kingdom transforms both lives and communities.
