What are services like?
Our desire as we gather each week is to worship the Lord Jesus. Our services are warm, engaging, friendly, energetic gatherings where we declare God’s greatness through music, preaching and teaching, praying together, and through living life together in community.
Whether you are a life-long church attendee or someone who is just beginning to question what Jesus is all about, there is a place for you at Southern Lakes EFC! We are privileged to have two worship gatherings each Sunday (8:30 & 11:00 am). Our sanctuary holds approximately 300 people and in our style of worship we sing everything from songs you may have heard on the radio last week to songs written last century. All are welcome as we gather!
Kids Connection for Nursery and preschool are offered at 8:30, 10:00 and 11:00 every Sunday. Elementary Kids Connection is offered at 10:00 & 11:00 am, except for Family Sunday, the first Sunday of the month. Then it is offered at 10:00 am only.
Where are you located?
Our Church Location page will lead you to the church.
What can I expect as a first time guest?
We make every attempt to make you feel welcome at Southern Lakes EFC. When you walk into the front doors, you will be greeted by a volunteer who offers a warm smile. You will find the Welcome Center in the corner of Fellowship Hall. If you need to know where to take your child or where the coatroom or restrooms are, you can ask one of our friendly greeters. It’s also the place to pick up a copy of the Bulletin that contains information about upcoming events.
Ushers are available to assist you with finding a seat and settling into the service. Don’t worry, we won’t ask you to stand as a first-time guest or embarrass you in any way. We view ourselves as a family, and invite you to join us!
How long has Southern Lakes EFC been around?
We started as a Bible study in 1985. Services began at our current location on Easter of 2000. Click here to read more about Southern Lakes’ history.
How many services do you have?
We offer two Worship Services at 8:30 and 11:00 am with the opportunity for Spiritual Formation classes for all ages Elementary to adult at 10:00 am. Classes can be joined at any time.
The first Sunday of every month is Family Sunday, with a specific family focus. Services will be designed with family in mind. There will be worship and content that appeals to all ages so children can enjoy worshiping with their family. The sermon on those Sundays will focus on family issues and opportunities, and practical application will be given for families to take home with them. Please Note: On Family Sunday Kids Connection Spiritual Formation will be offered only at the 10:00 am session so Elementary age students can attend church with their family.
What is available for my kids?
During the 8:30 and 11:00 am services we have age-appropriate activities for children from birth through preschool. We offer the same activities during the 10:00 Spiritual Formation session. Our care givers, teachers and leaders are prepared for your child to have the best possible experience each Sunday. During Spiritual Formation at 10:00 am we also offer classes for everyone Elementary though Adult. Classes can be joined at any time.
Do you have anything for Middle or High School students?
We believe it is important for students to be involved in worshiping God with all generations of the church body. We strongly encourage students to take part in the worship service. In addition, we offer Spiritual Formation classes during the 10 am Spiritual Formation time. We have a specific class for 6th-8th grade students and we encourage 9th grade on up to participate in a class designed for them or adult Spiritual Formation classes. What a great way for students to learn from and with older generations!
Is there a place for me to grow?
During our Spiritual Formation session at 10:00 am we offer several Bible-based classes to choose from. In addition, we offer Small Groups that meet throughout the week in many neighborhoods around Elkhorn. Please contact the church office for more details at email@example.com or 262-742-2366.
